COMMUNICATION
Our program can only be successful if we have good communication. Players or parents, if something is bothering you, please see a coach or parent rep immediately. Please approach the coach at the proper time, place and in a professional manner. Please do not try to speak with a coach when they are on deck coaching. KEEP IN MIND…our coaches like to hear positive feedback too.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Parents play a vital role in having a successful water polo season. We need everyone to pitch in and help out. Especially important are the following jobs that are needed at every home game or all games (stats). A family member of each player will be required to train on one of the positions. A training session will be held at the beginning of the season.
Scorekeeper: record everything that happens during the game on the Official Score Sheet including goals, major fouls, and time outs. Another person assists by letting the scorekeeper know what time each event occurred.
Game/Shot Clock: Starts and stops the clock throughout the game, and displays the score. Another person can assist to manage exclusion times, and hold up the appropriate flags.
Stats: record everything that happens during the game on a stat sheet, including attempts, assists, goals made, steals and blocks. The stat sheet goes to the coach at the end of the game.
A SIGN UP GENIUS invite will be sent out prior to each event. All spots will be expected to be filled prior to the event or they will be assigned.
ACADEMICS
Athletics, while important, does not take precedence over academics. Student athletes, with the support of their families and coaches, must maintain high academic standards above all else.
If you are having difficulties academically, please see the coach immediately for assistance. DO NOT WAIT until it is too late to make a difference in your quarter grades. All students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average to be eligible for athletics. Students who do not meet the 2.0 GPA are placed on activity suspension and may not participate in CHS athletics. In addition, you risk forfeiting your team’s contest if a player competes and is academically ineligible.

ATTENDANCE AND DISMISSAL
Student athletes must attend a minimum of two-thirds of their classes on the day of any athletic competition. An attendance report will be provided to the coaches. If an athlete is found to have not been in compliance and still competed, they will be ineligible to participate in the next contest. In addition, you risk forfeiting your team’s contest if a player competes and is ineligible due to attendance.
There will be games that will require an early dismissal. A list of players will be provided to the teachers. It is the player’s responsibility to remind the teacher at the beginning of class that they need to leave early. Teachers are required to dismiss you for sanctioned high school athletic events as long as the athlete is eligible. However, there may be case by case situations that we may need to handle as to not upset a teacher.
TRANSPORTATION
Players must use district approved transportation, or be transported by their parent, to all athletic events. Students are NOT allowed to transport other students or themselves to athletic events. The only exception will be to home games and practices that are held at Concord Community Pool.
